Clearinghouse creates an overview of the current best knowledge of good educational practice and communicates it to practitioners and politicians.

Products and methods 

Clearinghouse offers a number of products. The main product is the systematic review, which is carried out according to a standard method:

  • Gathering of existing research studies
  • Quality assessment and redescription of studies
  • Conclusions across studies

International evidence base 

The International evidence base is a database of systematic reviews in the field of education. The reviews are produced by a number of different organisations worldwide. Most of the titles are in English.

The database contains over 150 entries. It is updated regularly. It gives access to full text documents from a range of organisations including the EPPI-Centre in the UK, What Works Clearinghouse in the USA and Education Counts in New Zealand.

News and networks 

Communication and cooperation are central activities in the clearinghouse:

  • New knowledge is disseminated through reports, courses, newsletters and the homepage
  • Practicians and politicians are involved in the reviewing
  • The top researchers from Denmark and abroad are invited to join the review groups

Background information 

The Danish Clearinghouse for Educational Research opened in the fall of 2006.

The Danish University of Education Quarterly featured the clearinghouse in the November 2006 issue.
