e-ASEM Research Network Meeting and Seminar
Increasing Opportunities for e-Learning in Lifelong Learning
30-31 August 2010, Phuket, Thailand

 

ASEM LLL Research Network 1 "Development of ICT skills, e-learning and the culture of e-learning in lifelong learning-eASEM" coordinated by professor Bowon Kim, Korea National Open University (KNOU) will hold a seminar and a network meeting on 30-31 August, in Phuket, Thailand. The seminar is co-organised and hosted by Thailand Cyber University project, Commission on Higher Education, Thai Ministry of Education. At the seminar, researchers from the 6 ASEM countries will share their work-in-progress studies 'White Paper on e-learning' with 150 Thai participants. In addition, the network will also plan to present their complete comparative analyses and recommendations at the ASEM LLL conference in November and discuss future joint projects for the coming years.

Thailand Cyber University (TCU) Project is an ongoing project being carried out according to the National Education Act B.E, 1999 which put emphasis on expanding educational opportunities for people. Established in 2005, TCU acts as a learning resource sharing centre and aims to assist higher education institutes to deliver distance learning via the Internet. It also works to ensure that all online courses are of a high quality and meet the government standards. In 2009, TCU received Honourable Mention Award of the 2009 UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education.
